Squirrels – P1 & P2
Our Squirrels meet on a Tuesday evening from 6 – 6.45pm in St. Saviour’s Church Of Ireland Hall in Greyabbey. Section leader is Philip Warnock.
Every week, Squirrels will gather to grow and learn their way through lots of different games and activities.
Squirrels can achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way.
The sessions will be a brilliant opportunity for young people to take their first step into being part of Scouts, and they’ll help everyone get ready for the adventure of school too.
Sessions will be packed with outdoors activities, fun, games, badges, laughter, and so much more to help our youngest members learn the skills they need for life. Of course, none of it would be possible without the support of the amazing leaders who plan and deliver such an inspiring programme.
Some Questions We Get Asked………
What Do Squirrels Wear?
Squirrels uniform consists of a red sweatshirt with your badges sewn on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent your local group. There are lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, navy blue trousers or shorts, if you’d like to.
Where Can I Get The Uniform?
The red jumper is available from the UK Scout Store and sometimes their are preloved ones available from us or Vinted.
When Do I Get My Scarf Or “Necker”?
When you make your promise at the “Investiture Night”.
What is an “Investiture Night” and “Promise” exactly?
It’s important that everyone has the chance to think about their Promise and understand what it means, before they make it. You make your Promise for the first time during a special ceremony we call an Investiture, and your Promise can be renewed at any time.
An Investiture or Promise ceremony is a special celebration where someone is welcomed to Scouts, makes their Scout Promise, receives their Scout scarf. Making your Promise means you become a member of your Scout section, as well as the worldwide Scout family.
Investitures are important and special ceremonies, but this doesn’t mean they have to be strict or scary!
There’s no single way to run an Investiture. As long as your ceremony covers the main components, which are the welcome, making the Promise, and presenting the Scout scarf, it’s up to you where you do it, what you say, and what else you do.
What Promises Is There?
Where Do We Sew On All Our Badges?
What Do All The Badges Mean?
From your very first day at Squirrels to your last day at Explorers you will be encouraged to try new things and the badges are recognition for doing this. You have both award and activity badges in Squirrels.
